The Yarmouth Food Bank is currently helping approximately 700 families.
The numbers are about at par with last year.
Food Bank Society chair Rev. Bill Newell says donations of food and grocery items are strong.
He says individuals and businesses are also generous with their monetary donations.
“Excellent. We’ve had some fantastic food drives. We haven’t had to order a whole lot in the last month, but once we get through Christmas, the drives go down and the ordering goes up. Financial donations now carry us through the winter months.”
Rev. Newell says the Yarmouth Food Bank works closely with the Salvation Army which takes the lead with their Christmas Hamper program.
There will be a food drive Friday at Superstore on Starr’s Road.
