The provincial budget is expected to have slightly increased revenues and relatively flat expenses.
The latest forecast for the 2017-2018 budget was released by Finance Minister Karen Casey today.
The projected net position is $28.9 million, up $7.6 million from the net position on budget day.
Casey says total revenue is projected to be up $42 million to $10.6 billion, while expenses will be up $16.5 million to $10.5 billion.
The forecast also includes additional appropriations of $86.4 million for increased demands in healthcare and $25.6 million to pay out a long service award for teachers, civil servants and other groups.
Casey says the province is keeping a steady hand on the province’s finances under changing conditions.
She says they are following the budgetary plan to invest in healthcare, education, young people and in new ideas that will create a better economy and healthier and stronger communities.
