1st Star – Robitialle (3G)
2nd Star – Lyver (4A)
3rd Star – Goreham (2G)— Kevin Northup (@KevinNorthup) January 29, 2017
Max Robitaille led the way with three goals, Lawrence Lyver had four assists, Chris Goreham and Jordan Messenger each scored twice.
The Tigers made two goaltending changes before the second period ended, as the Mariners took an 8-2 lead.
Rowan O’Brien replaced Riley Akerman to start the second, but O’Brien allowed four goals on eight shots before storming off to the bench.
Akerman would finish out the game.
Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says his team needed that win.
“Our division is really tough, so we have to win games against teams below you in the standings. You have to respect all and fear none. We wanted to make sure we did our due-diligence and we got the two points.”
Justin Ritcey picked up his third win as a Mariner, making 13 saves.
Yarmouth moved back into second place in the Eastlink South Division by one point over Truro and Amherst.
The Mariners have a rare home game tomorrow afternoon vs. South Shore.
Barron says the Lumberjacks are dangerous.
“They’ve got five or six forwards that are as good as any in the league. For years, South Shore has played us tough, that will be no different tomorrow.”
Puck drop is at 5pm.
