The Municipality of Barrington gave an update on water issues today.
Obviously, with no rain recently or rain in the forecast, the situation is getting worse.
About 200 wells in the area have dried up.
Barrington CAO Rob Frost says the municipality is continuing to help residents as much as they can.
“We are providing drinking water. The arena is open for showers, and we have washing machines in place. Fire departments are also helping by delivering water than can be used for flushing toilets.”
Some local fire departments have offered water fill stations, and there are taps available by the RV Dumping Station near the Sherose Island Recreation Complex.
That water is not treated and should only be used for flushing toilets or washing clothes.
Frost says if your well is dry, notify the Municipal office so they have a clear picture of how many are affected by this exceptionally dry summer, and what further actions may need to be taken.
