Donald Trump has officially become the 45th president of the United States after taking the oath of office.
In his inaugural address, which he is said to have written himself, now U.S. president Trump said that today they’re not just transferring power from one administration or party to another, they’re transferring power from Washington D.C. and giving it back to the people.
“For too long a small group in our nation’s capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost,” Trump said. “Washington flourished but the people did not share in its wealth.”
He said that from this day forward it’s going to be America first:
“Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs, will be made to benefit American workers and American families.”
Trump says that his swearing in-date will be remembered as the day the people became rulers of the nation again.
Attendees at the Trump inauguration included Bernie Sanders, George W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, the Clintons, and of course, the Obamas and the Bidens.
I’m still asking you to believe – not in my ability to bring about change, but in yours. I believe in change because I believe in you.
