The ECMAs and musicians union are once again singing from the same songbook.
The Canadian Federation of Musicians and East Coast Music Association have reached a new three-year deal.

The union put the music association on its international unfair list several weeks ago.
The CFM has been without a contract with the ECMA for the past three years.
Executive Director of the ECMA Andy McLean says they’ve always wanted a deal with the musicians union.
“We were appreciative that the union were able to come to the table with some new thinking. The new deal means that the ECMA can continue to pay the rates that it has been paying – which is above the CFM scale.”
McLean is excited about the new arrangement.
“We were looking for an authentic partnership, not just some kind of adversarial agreement that we didn’t really enjoy but we signed anyway. Which I think has been the past approach. Now we have what we think is a progressive new partnership with the union.”
McLean feels the new partnership will help musicians recognize the value union has to offer.
With the deal in place, the ECMA can look forward to having the East Coast’s brightest stars at their annual award show in Saint John in April.
