If you’re looking to travel to New Brunswick between now and the middle of next month, you’ll have to drive.
Bay Ferries has temporarily suspended the Digby-Saint John service effective this morning.
The MV Fundy Rose will be leaving to undergo a regularly scheduled drydocking.
Bay Ferries CEO Mark MacDonald says it is a federal requirement to meet classification and statutory inspection regulations
and also allows the company to perform maintenance.
He says with the ship on the Digby to Saint John service ,they are always conscious of avoiding the primary fishing season
“Typically the best window is the later January to early March window.”
MacDonald says the work will take place at Dentons Shipyard in Charleston, South Carolina.
“There was no Canadian yard availability in that time frame due to ice conditions and other issues.”
He says the Fundy Rose is expected to be back in service on or about February 17.
The Fundy Rose will be temporarily suspended after the 0800 sailing on Jan 20 for a scheduled drydocking.

MacDonald says they’ve been very pleased with the performance of the vessel since it replaced the princess of Acadia in July of 2015.
