More towns and municipalities are taking advantage of a program would help residents access money for
clean energy and water improvement projects on their properties.
The government enacted the legislation for the PACE program because of last year’s severe drought.
CAO’s from the municipalities of Argyle, Barrington, Shelburne and Queens are working together to draft by-laws
so the program can be available in those jurisdictions.
Eddie Nickerson, the Warden of the Municipality of Barrington says it would help residents a great deal.
“It’s a loan to finance wells, drilled wells, dug wells, cisterns thing like that.” At present we’re working with the municipal units here in Sou’ West Nova,
Argyle, Shelburne and Queens, to draft a bylaw, to make that work and to help take some of the pressure off of the situation we had this summer.”
The PACE program is administered by Efficiency Nova Scotia.
