On Friday and Saturday, the Liberals announced plans for new clinics in both Kentville and Digby.
The province said patients from Digby would no longer have to travel to Yarmouth for treatment.
Argyle-Barrington MLA Chris d’Entremont says people in the Barrington area have to travel almost as far.
“If you’re living on Cape Island and you have to travel to Yarmouth, that’s just about an hour of travel time, in good weather.
If you hit bad weather, heavy rain or snow, then that makes it very difficult, very dangerous for those individuals. Those patients are not feeling well and we’re asking them to travel such great distances.”
d’Entremont wants to know why the government has left Barrington out.
“Part of that move in changing how the Valley receives their service…putting it in Kentville and therefore allowing people from the Digby area not to travel so far, I understand that. If the examples or reasoning for Digby works, then it should work for Barrington as well.”
“What criteria is the southwest failing to meet? We need some answers.”
