The Maritime Junior Hockey League’s trade deadline has passed.
The Yarmouth Junior A Mariners made their moves last week, and have their roster set for the rest of the season.
Laurie Barron’s club started the season with one 20 year old player, Captain Ryan Daley.
The Head Coach and General Manager added veteran forwards Lawrence Lyver and Max Robitaille in recent weeks, as well as blue-liner Alex Mann and goaltender Justin Ritcey.
Barron says they’ve brought in key players without losing much off the roster.
“Those are pretty good hockey players brought into an already great club. We feel we’re ready to go. We’re hoping that our fan base and everyone around Yarmouth is as excited as we are to get rolling and go on that playoff run.”
Barron says forward Brodie Butt has left the team.
He was part of ‘future considerations’ in a deal with South Shore but decided not to report at this time.
The Mariners are back at it with three games in three nights this week, starting Thursday at Pictou County.
Barron says Leif Hertz will start in goal.
“It’s going to be a tough three in three and we’ll need all 22 guys playing at the top of their game in order to get six points.”
Yarmouth will host Amherst on Friday and Truro on Saturday.
As of Jan 9th the Mariners have once again made Top 20 list from the CJHL coming in at 19th
