Zeke Estrada and Matt Warner also scored for Yarmouth, a team that didn’t take part in a shootout all of last season.
Peveril lit the lamp just over five minutes in.
But the Slammers would counter with a pair of first period goals.
Estrada tied the game at two early in the second, before the Slammers took the lead again 3-2.
Warner’s goal came 39 seconds later.
There was no scoring in the third period or the three-on-three five minute overtime.
Slammers goalie Jack Grant was named the game’s first star, while Mariners goalie Leif Hertz was second star.
Hertz stopped 37 shots, and Grant made 40 saves.
Davide and Adamo Asselin each had an assist, as did Chris Goreham.
