There will be a new Warden in the Municipality of Yarmouth.
Murray Goodwin will not re-offer in next month’s election.
The 65 year old has served as Warden since 2012 and was Deputy Warden for three plus years before that.
Goodwin says he plans on moving to town.
“I feel very strongly that you should live where you are running, especially if I was named Warden again. It’s just a personal issue, and my wife and I felt it was time to get a little closer to town.”
Goodwin says he’s proud of the way Yarmouth County’s three municipal units work together.
“We’ve set the bar really high for shared services. Some people think it can be higher, and I think it can too. I firmly believe that if something is going to be good for the municipality, then it will be good for the town.”
Municipal council candidates have until September 13 to register.
The election takes place October 15.
