Students returning to Yarmouth High School today will notice a fully functioning sports field.
It’s been four years since the school opened its doors on Forest Street.
But sports like soccer and rugby have taken place at the old high school field on Parade Street.
Tri-County Regional School Board Director of Operations Steve Stoddart says the field did not pass inspection at the end of construction, and a lot of work needed to be done.
“Once that work was completed, the field had to sit for one year, a complete season to establish the grass. It took this amount of time to get the field ready, but now the field is ready for use.”
Soccer tryouts were being held last week on the new field.
