The crew of a fishing boat responded quickly after one of them fell into the cold waters off South Western Nova Scotia.
Captain Liam Mather of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says they were contacted late yesterday afternoon.
“Around early suppertime yesterday, January 7, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax was informed of a situation involving the crew of the fishing vessel ‘Secret Sea’.”
Mather says the man was recovered moments later and he was administered first aid aboard the fishing boat.
“The (JRCC) tasked a Canadian Coast Guard ship, ‘Clark’s Harbour’, to escort the vessel to West Head. The vessel arrived safely and the matter was
turned over to local RCMP.”
Capt. Mather says the fisherman’s condition is not known.
Mather said the vessel was approximately 25 nautical miles south east of Cape Sable Island at the time.
