If you’ve ever wondered how teachers plan what they instruct their students, you can now find out.
As teachers return to classes under work-to-rule conditions, the hashtag #FocusedOnTeaching has been set up by the Nova Scotia Teachers Union.
Teachers across the province are using the hashtag to show how how the work-to-rule job action is allowing them to be better teachers to their students.

NSTU President Liette Doucet says it’s important people understand what it means for teachers to have the prep time they need.
“Hopefully the government is realizing that what teachers really want is to do the best for their students. They want their students to be successful and they want to be able to focus on what is really important.”

Doucet says the hashtag shows how improving conditions for teachers will also up the quality of education students receive.
“We wanted teachers to be able to show that what was happening in the classrooms right now is what should be happening in the classrooms all the time.”
