Road crews are already out in advance of tonight’s messy precipitation.
Environment Canada is forecasting a mix of freezing rain and ice pellets before the changeover to rain overnight.
Don Houston with the Department of Transportation in Yarmouth says it looks like Shelburne County could get a bit more
of the frozen precipitation.
He expects it to begin early this evening.
“Our forecast models right now say it’s going to begin in Yarmouth around 6 o’clock, we’re looking for it to begin in Shelburne and Digby around 8 o’clock.”
Houston says crews began applying a liquid to the 100-series of highways around 10am.
He says motorists should expect slippery conditions for the morning commute.
“Give yourself lots of time to get your vehicle cleaned off. You’re really going to have to be careful out there.”
