It’s back-to-back preseason home wins for the Yarmouth Junior A Mariners.
The Mariners took care of the South Shore Lumberjacks 5-2 tonight.
Yarmouth’s projected top line came through again, with Matt Barron scoring twice in the first period, Aaron Maillet getting a goal and an assist, and Andrew Martell recording an assist.
Matt Barron says his line continues to gel ahead of the regular season.
“I think we’re firing on all cylinders right now ,and I think we need to keep that up heading into the regular season and we’ll have success.”
Matt Warner and Connor Peveril had the other goals for the Mariners, who led 3-1 after the first and didn’t look back.
The Mariners finished the preseason 3-1.
Leif Hertz got the win in net, while Justin Ritcey took the loss in the Lumberjacks goal.
Now the focus turns to the regular season.
Mariners Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says he’s looking to add to the line-up.
“The preseason is done and everyone is getting down to their numbers. I think we’re looking to add two more forward and maybe one more defenseman.”
Lawrence Lyver and Raphael Deslauriers scored for South Shore, who host the Valley Wildcats tomorrow night at 7.
The regular season opens for both clubs on Friday, as the Mariners visit Woodstock and the Jacks entertain the Wildcats.
