The Mariners trailed 4-3 heading into the third period after a late Valley goal, but Davide Asselin tied the game early in the third.
Then, Matt Warner scored the go ahead goal with just over five minutes left, and Matt Barron added a late empty-netter.
Forward Aaron Maillet with two goals on the night says his line with Barron and Andrew Martell is clicking heading into the regular season.
“I played with Matty all last year, and I played with Martell in Midget. I felt good right away, we have just clicked in exhibition. We are going at full speed now.”
Goaltender Leif Hertz made 27 saves, and the Mariners fired 49 shots on Valley’s net-minders.
Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says
“The thing I was probably most happy with, is when we got down we had no sense of quit. That’s two games in two days, and we had our best period in the third I think.”
The Mariners are now 2-1 in the preseason.
They finish their exhibition schedule tonight at home against the South Shore Lumberjacks.
