The new warden for the Municipality of Shelburne admits she’s had to adjust to the roles busy schedule.
Penny Smith says she’s met with other municipalities to discuss success stories and gather ideas that could be a help to Shelburne.
There are three major priorities for the Municipality of Shelburne in 2017.
Smith say one of them is health-care.
“We’ll continue to work with our partners to recruit and retain doctors and other health-care professionals to our area and, of course, continue to monitor the construction of the new collaborative health-care clinic.”
Work has begun and Smith is optimistic the new clinic will open in 2018.
Another priority is access to internet.
“We need the service not only for residential use but it is an essential service to encourage small-based businesses to our area.”
Smith says the municipality also wants to further develop and market the Shelburne Marine Industrial Park.
“We also plan to reach out to existing businesses located in the park to better understand their needs and to see if there may be areas we can assist and provide support within our authority.”
There are seven businesses already in the park with an additional 10 serviced and 12 unserviced lots available.
