Yarmouth Rural RCMP are asking for the public’s help as they investigate the disappearance of a gun safe containing six firearms from a rural property in Tusket, Nova Scotia.
Police say officers were alerted on March 8 after learning a gun safe had been moved without the owner’s consent from their property to an unlocked building elsewhere in the area.
When the owner later attempted to retrieve the safe, both it and the firearms inside were gone.
The owner reported the missing items to police, prompting an investigation.
The gun safe is described as a dark-coloured locker approximately five feet tall.
The missing firearms include:
- a black 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol
- a .32 Special Remington lever-action long gun with a brown wood stock and scope
- a 12-gauge single-shot break-barrel shotgun, Russian model, brand unknown
- a 12-gauge Remington pump-action shotgun with a black synthetic stock
- a semi-automatic SKS rifle with a black synthetic collapsible stock and scope
- a non-functional .22-calibre rifle with a wood-grain stock and ammunition clip
RCMP say investigators have followed several leads but are now turning to the public for assistance in locating the missing safe and ensuring the firearms are recovered safely.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Yarmouth Rural RCMP or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
