Three more years for Aldea Landry as Chancellor of Universite Sainte-Anne.
In a unanimous vote by the Board of Governors last week, Landry’s term was renewed as the fifth chancellor of the Church Point university.
A native of Moncton, the lawyer and entrepreneur succeeded former chancellor Louis Deveau in 2011.
Landry says she is proud to represent the university.
“I want to be an ambassador, and I think I’m an ambassador for the university at every opportunity I have, not only to talk about the university, but to publicize what it’s doing.
Landry says the students receive an excellent education in a welcoming, healthy and family-like environment.
In her role as Chancellor, Landry represents the university at many functions.
She says her favourite part of the year is giving out the degrees at graduation.
“Through my speeches and talking to the students, I want to encourage them to go beyond what they’ve accomplished, and to make a big contribution not only to their community, but to the world.”
Rector and Vice-Chancellor Allister Surette says Landry is a remarkable woman with considerable experience in many areas, and they are lucky to count on her service for another term.
Universite Sainte-Anne is the only francophone university in Nova Scotia.
