A Hollywood star and director is putting Nova Scotia on the tourist map after defending his vacation spot.
Ethan Hawke defended Nova Scotia on the Netflix talk show ‘Chelsea’.
The host, Chelsea Handler, pressed him for why he chooses to vacation in the province.
Hawke took offence to her questioning and explained some activities he enjoys here with his wife and four kids.
“What do other families do on vacation? We go on walks. We look at seals. There’s eagles flying. We go on canoe trips,” exclaimed Hawke.
When Handler pressed on, he disputed with her by saying, “You’re from Livingston, New Jersey, okay? And, you’re mocking Nova Scotia, alright? I don’t think this is fair!”
Even Premier Houston shared the full clip on his social media.
Mulgrave Road Theatre Artistic Director Emmy Alcorn had a visit from Hawke last year where she toured him through the upcoming Centre for the Arts.
She shared with our newsroom what she thought of the clip.
“Oh, I thought it was wonderful. You know he has such a warm personality, and he loves to laugh and I think he really loves Nova Scotia. And, you know, he talks about it in a good light,” Alcorn expressed.
“I liked that he talked about the different things, that he does when he’s here, most of them seem to involve in nature, so I thought it was wonderful.”
Hawke shared with her that he’s got a house here for vacations and visits with some American friends who are also here.
She says she thinks he’s a great ambassador for Nova Scotia.
