The Yarmouth Mariners’ four-game losing streak is over.
Ryan Loveless scored a hat-trick, including the game winner in overtime as Yarmouth beat the Valley Wildcats 4-3 on the road Saturday night.
Goalie Maxime Giguere was named second star with 48 saves, Noah Breau also scored his first as a Mariner.
The win followed up a disappointing 6-3 loss to the Amherst Ramblers Friday night at home.
Yarmouth fell behind 4-0 in the game, they had two goals from Grayson Pardy and one from Liam Dutcher, Keegan Warren took the loss in goal.
The Mariners are now eight points back of the Ramblers and Pictou County Crushers for a playoff spot with 15 games remaining,
New team captain Jano Zambakdjian says his team is ready to make a run.
“We have a big playoff push to go on. I want to lead this team, and it’s an honour to wear a ‘C’ on this jersey,” said Zambakdjian, who is a 20-year-old defender,
He was named captain earlier in the day Friday, replacing Justin Garneau who left via trade.
The Mariners visit the Ramblers on Friday night, and welcome the Pictou County Crushers to town on Saturday, January 24.
