A group of emergency management organizations have received funding.
The province is giving over a million dollars to seven REMO departments, to help them with staff, shared office spaces and training.
Emergency management minister Kim Masland says the Long Lake and Lake George wildfires over the summer showed the importance of a strong, co-ordinated response.
The organizations are located in Digby, Lunenburg, Guysborough, Pictou, Cumberland and Colchester counties.
The funding is for projects over the next four years.
