Help is needed to get a vital piece of equipment at Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
The foundation has set their Christmas appeal campaign toward a new digital mammography unit.
Mary Surette with the foundation says the current unit is reaching its end of life.
“It’s still operational and serving many patients, but we need updates. We have 22 board members across the Tri-Counties that have noted that this is an important piece of equipment that we need in our hospital,” said Surette.
She says the new digital unit will help detect breast cancer earlier.
It costs $750,000, Surette adds it will be paid for through the foundation and community donations.
