A chance to ask questions about Yarmouth hospital’s new emergency department.
An open house is planned for Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at the basement level of the hospital.
Gina Leaman is the site-lead, and says it’s a great opportunity to learn more.
“You can look at some of the photos we have that will show you what the new department will look like. We have some layouts of how parking and other things will be looking over the next couple of years,” said Leaman.
She says they are looking at solutions for a lack of parking availability during construction.
“I do realize parking is a challenge, so this will let the public know that we are looking at those solutions.”
The new department will be built in the front parking lot in the School of Nursing.
A new 57 space parking lot is planned at the corner of Vancouver Street and Grove Road during construction.
The department will be double the size of the current one, and is expected to be ready in 2027.
Leaman says the new department is going to be amazing for the community, as they’ve outgrown the current one.
She adds they’ll be able to see more people and have more options for urgent care.
