The first storm of the season was relatively mild but it has left the roads treacherous for days, and the Department of Transportation says it’s only going to get worse.
Spokesperson Brian Taylor says they weren’t able to get salt down Monday before the snow started to fall.
“We had that heavy wet snow, then it rained, then it get’s cold, then it rains again so, it’s really hard to tackle that type of condition and that’s just the reality of it.”
Taylor says the cold snap in tonight and tomorrow’s forecast is going to make matters worse because salt stops working once temperatures drop too low.
Wet roads overnight, cold temps and light snow this morning making for a slippery commute. Give yourself and others plenty of space.
