Speeding and visibility are some of the concerns being raised to RCMP by the Town of Shelburne.
Mayor Karen Mattatall says councillors had discussions with police at their recent meeting.
She says there is 24 hour RCMP coverage in the town but six of them are on-call.
“We discussed if it would be a good idea to switch some of the shifts around so that maybe late at night or early in the morning there were RCMP not on-call, but actually present.”
She adds, speeding is an issue in the entire town and needs attention.
“And I’m sure it’s not unique to Shelburne but it’s a bad habit being developed to be speeding anywhere but certainly in a town with other traffic or have people walking.”
Mattatall says it’s especially a problem on Main Street and Falls Lane going towards the wharf.
She says RCMP were receptive to their concerns and plan to look at ways to address them.
