The province’s two-member Liberal Party is preparing for the legislature to re-open.
Interim leader Derek Mombourquette has been touring the province over the past month.
He says the economy is a big issue he’s hearing about.
“They want to make sure there are opportunities in the province, not only for them but for their children as they try to set roots here in the province. All of this conversation helps us build our legislation that we’re going to table,” said Mombourquette during a stop in Yarmouth.
He says he and Iain Rankin will bring ideas toward the economy, cell service and help for rural communities.
He notes that people want more accountability on the Nova Scotia Power cybersecurity breach.
“It’s a big topic we’re hearing about, with the challenges around that data breach. So we’ll be looking at that issue as well.”
The legislature will open on September 23.
Mombourquette says the Liberals are also keeping a close eye on the wildfire situation in Annapolis County.
“I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our first responders, and our thoughts are with them and the families who have been evacuated. It’s scary, it’s a significant event taking place here, and many are battling it.”
