Athletes in the Tri-County Area are getting ready for the weekend.
The Yarmouth Marathon takes place on Sunday, and applications from runners are still being accepted.
All proceeds from the event go to Yarmouth Hospital’s Kidney Dialysis Unit.
Organizer Bobby-Lou Reardon says it was important to help those close to home.
“For a couple years we raised money for the Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation. Over the last few years we’ve been raising money for the local unit. It helps those in this area with some of the costs.”
Runners also have the option of running a 5k, 10k, half-marathon, or new this year, a team relay.
Those who compete the full marathon can qualify for the Boston Marathon in April.
