Kings Transit Authority has confirmed it will end service within the Town of Digby effective August 1, following the town’s decision not to remain a partner in a newly updated regional transit agreement.
The Inter-Municipal Service Agreement (IMSA), which governs public transit in the Annapolis Valley, was recently revised to promote long-term planning, shared investment, and stronger rural transit service across western Nova Scotia.
Seven of the eight participating municipalities have approved the new agreement, including Kings County, Annapolis County, and the Towns of Kentville, Wolfville, Berwick, Middleton, and Digby Area Municipality.
However, the Town of Digby opted not to continue as a partner.
As a result, Kings Transit is required to apply to the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board to discontinue service within the town.
The final stop on the affected route will be at Canadian Tire on Warwick Street.
Kings Transit acknowledged the disruption this may cause for riders who rely on access to the Town of Digby and is directing residents with questions or concerns to the Town of Digby or the provincial board:

Transit service between Weymouth and Grand Pré will continue uninterrupted, with stops in several communities along the route.
