The Municipality of Clare is mourning a long-time councillor.
Brian Comeau died on June 29 at the age of 63.
In a news release, the municipality says for more than two decades Comeau served the people of Clare with dedication, compassion and integrity.
“His deep love for his community was evident in everything he did, whether it was through his work on Council, his long-time volunteerism, or his daily interactions with residents. He was a dedicated champion of his constituents, always ready to listen to them and lend them a hand,” reads the statement.
Comeau was a husband, father and grandfather as well as an accomplished carpenter and sportsman.
The Municipality of Clare says they extend “sincere condolences to Comeau’s wife, Lisa, his children Daralyn and Jeremy, his granddaughter Nyomi and all of his family and circle of friends.”
Funeral arrangements are with the Meteghan Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, July 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A public service will be held on Saturday, July 5 at 3 p.m. at the Sacre Couer Cemetary in Saulnierville.
The flags at the municipal office were lowered to half-mast.
