The Halifax Mooseheads hope to keep making history.
They start their second round series against the second-ranked Rouyn-Noranda Huskies Friday night in Quebec.
The Mooseheads knocked off top-seed Drummondville in the first round, becoming the first 16th place team to ever win a playoff series.
Halifax took Game 7 2-0 in Drummondville on Monday night.
Eastlink Community TV’s Mavs Gillis says Halifax’s goalies have kept them in close games this season.
“We haven’t seen them in games where they’ve been blown out. A lot of credit goes to Jacob Steinman, and before that Mathis Rousseau (now with the Moncton Wildcats,) who had to stop 40 or 50 pucks a night sometimes,” said Gillis.
Game 2 is Saturday afternoon before the series shifts to Halifax for Game 3 on Tuesday.
Gillis says the Mooseheads can hang with the Huskies.
“Halifax, they’re in the fight. This is not the last place playoff team we saw all year, they’re in this, and playing good playoff hockey.”
The Huskies won both meetings this season but they were close games.
Let's bring the noise for Round 2. Tickets on sale now!
