The CP-140 Aurora aircraft that experienced an in-flight emergency over the skies of South Western Nova Scotia Thursday is back at 14 Wing Greenwood.
The crew noticed a smell of smoke in the cockpit while on a training exercise and made an emergency landing at the Yarmouth International airport.
Public affairs officer from 14 Wing Greenwood, Captain Matt Zalot says the crew landed safely in Yarmouth after declaring the emergency.
“I think the important thing to remember is that the crew took the appropriate action, nobody was hurt, there was an emergency situation but the crew followed the proper protocols and all the (emergency) agreements that were put in place (with Yarmouth International Airport) worked well.”
Cpt. Zalot says the plane returned to its base over the weekend and technicians are working to uncover the problem and make sure the aircraft is fully serviceable.
He says that will take a little time but it’s expected to be back in service shortly.
