The Lobster Pot Christmas Tree is being lit this Thursday.
Barrington’s Tourism and Community Development Officer Suzy Atwood says the buoys on the tree signify fishermen who have been lost at sea.
“In memory of past fisherman, and it also has buoys representing the fishing boats that are out there on the water today,” she says.
“It tells a great story.”
The lighting will be followed with fireworks over the Cape Sable Island Causeway.
This kicks off Barrington’s Festival of Lights which is a week earlier this year.
Atwood says it’s because many who go lobstering don’t get to enjoy the festival before they head out.
The Lobster Pot Christmas Tree will be lit at 7 p.m. in Barrington, and the Parade of Lights will take place through Barrington Passage on Saturday night.
