Ottawa is giving more money to Nova Scotia for mental health support.
Two million dollars will go the province and Maggie’s Place, a mental health resource centre serving Cumberland and Colchester counties.
Following a meeting of health ministers in Halifax, Mental Health minister Brian Comer said there are common issues across the country.
“We’re using technology, as are our colleagues across the country to try and improve access and increase funding to grassroots organizations that we know play a critical role in the community,” said Comer.
Maggie’s Place received funding last year as part of the Mass Casualty Commission’s recommendations.
They’ve delivered 29 programs to help those areas including parent support groups and playgroups for families.
Comer also announced $1.5 million for palliative care mental health support.
