The Mayor of Yarmouth says there’s lots to look forward to in 2025.
Pam Mood says council will be looking at a community needs survey that was done by Engage Nova Scotia.
“So the residents had the opportunity to speak and give their thoughts around quality of life in Yarmouth. We’re going to take it a step further and dig deep into this, to make sure what we’re doing is matching what people are saying,” said Mayor Mood.
Mood says they’re re-working their strategic plan to update priorities.
She says she’s excited about housing projects in various stages in the town, and the construction of the Mariners Centre expansion.
Waterfront development is also an area they want to focus on.
“The untapped potential down there is something that consumes me. It’s a working waterfront, so we always encompass that in the work that we do there, definitely looking to do more.”
The Mayor is also looking forward to discussions on the ‘CAT’ ferry, and the province’s ongoing study on the Yarmouth-to-Maine service.
Mood says she’d like to see the government commit to 10 more years to give local businesses peace of mind.
