The 911 call came in late Sunday afternoon to 80 Argyle Street.
Platoon Chief Hank Nickerson says the fire spread into the chimney and the attic.
“Upon arrival we had heavy smoke conditions in the attic. We checked it out and found out it was the chimney. The fire had gotten outside of the chimney and into the walls.”
Nickerson says it’s a reminder for people to check their chimneys to make sure they are clean and in good working condition.
No one was hurt.
The building’s owner Gilles D’Eon says there was one person residing in the apartment at the time.
There are three units with a total of three tenants in the building.
