The Town of Yarmouth will review their municipal planning strategy and land-use by-law.
It starts with an initial engagement phase this spring, and there will be consultations with the public.
Mayor Pam Mood says there’s lots to look at, including housing options.
“We’re a town, we only have so much land to build on. We want people to be able to densify their properties in certain areas,” said the Mayor.
Information gathered from the consultations will be released in a report this June, then more discussions will take place in early 2025.
“The process for us is to have the community come in and tell us what matters to them. You really have to listen, and understand what people are saying, and people will understand why we’re trying to do things the way that we are.”
Mood says it will be a long process, with the final documents being completed in spring, 2026.
The review is mandatory every 10 years, the last review happened in 2016.
