A friendly hello this week from the town of Lunenburg.
A ceremony was held at town hall where the town officially welcomed those who have moved to the area in the last year.
Some residents were also on hand to share local history and tips on how to become involved.
After living out west and in other places in the province, Laura MacPherson moved to Lunenburg around six months ago.
She says this is the first time she’s every been welcomed to a new place in this way.
“It meant a lot. It tells me that the community really cares about engaging their people and creating connections. And being new, it’s hard to make those connections.”
MacPherson says she appreciates the opportunity to get to know people.
“It makes me feel like the community has a strong culture that brings people together and that’s what they’re trying to encourage. So, it encourages me to get out and about and get involved.”
This is the fourth year the town has hosted the event.
