Keep cool and use a light foot.
That’s the message from Nova Scotia RCMP.
During November they’ve been educating motorists about aggressive and dangerous driving.
Constable Mark Skinner of the Traffic Services Unit says, despite what some people may think, it’s not just young people who
drive aggressively.
“Unfortunately aggressive driving seems to go across all demographics. I think we typically think of a younger driver in that respect but we see all folks being caught for aggressive driving and speeding violations.
Const. Skinner says when officers are out on patrol, education is their primary goal.
“To stop that behaviour. To Stop that aggressive driving. Part of that education unfortunately sometimes is handing out a ticket. But we do media campaigns like this to educate folks and to let them know, fair warning, that we’re going to be out there looking for speeding and aggressive driving.”
Skinner says in 2015, Nova Scotia RCMP responded to 25 collisions causing serious and fatal injuries where speed was a factor.
Seven people died.
