It’s a labour of love.
The tree is made of lobster traps and decorated with buoys.
Many of the buoys are placed in memory of local fishermen who have been lost at sea or passed on.
This is the seventh year for the Lobster Trap Tree.
Suzy Atwood is Tourism and Community Development Officer for the Municipality of Barrington.
She says the tree will start being assembled next week.
“Our Nova Scotia web cam that we have at the Causeway will be will be turned so everyone can watch the tree being built. Our public works crew has been gathering the lobster pots. They are recycled lobster pots. They’ve all seen the bottom of the ocean, they’ve all caught lobsters, now they make our tree.”
Residents of the Municipality of Barrington and Town of Clark’s Harbour can drop off a buoy.
The tree will be placed on the Clark’s Harbour side of the Causeway.
The Lobster Trap Tree will be lit on December 1.
