The Black Loyalist Heritage Society in Birchtown is holding a Christmas fundraiser.
They are hoping to raise at least a thousand dollars.
The grand prize is a dinner and two tickets to see African Canadian Singer Measha (Meesha) Bruggergosman in concert on December 16th at the Th’YARC.
Vanessa Fells, Public Programming and Outreach Coordinator for the Society says they were excited when they heard the award-winning soprano was coming to Yarmouth.
“She is a Black Loyalist descendant and we wanted to promote her as much as possible.
Fells says money raised will go to the operation of the Black Loyalist Heritage Museum as well as their bursary fund.
She says they are always looking for ways to increase their profile and were very pleased with the number of visitors to the Birchtown centre this summer.
“It has been very busy, it’s starting to slow down where it’s November but this summer was better than last year and better than the year before so it just keeps getting better and better.”
Tickets for the fund raiser are $5 and can be purchased at the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre or by phoning 902-875-1310.
