If you’re flying WestJet or Swoop this long-weekend, you may have to make other plans.
A pilot strike could begin Friday, and cause disruptions at Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
Spokesperson for the airport Tiffany Chase says WestJet and Swoop passengers will need to check-in with their airliner.
“And review any communication that’s come directly from the airline to understand what their options are in the event their flight has been cancelled,” said Chase.
16 WestJet and Swoop flights come in and out of Halifax each day.
Over 1,600 flight crew could walk off the job Friday at 3 a.m. as they seek better pay and job security.
Today the WestJet Pilots MEC issued a 72 hours strike notice. If no progress is made, we could withdraw our services at 0300 MT May 19th, 2023. Our negotiating committee remains available 24/7 to reach a deal.#showusafuture #weareready #willstrikeifprovoked #countdown pic.twitter.com/usKJVss491
