Council recently adopted the Property Assessment Clean Energy program by-law.
Applicants would work with Efficiency Nova Scotia, who would perform the assessment.
The homeowner would apply to the municipality for funding, to be paid back through taxes.
CAO Rob Frost says this could help save money for homeowners in Barrington.
“Basically you would save the amount of money that you would normally spend in energy efficiencies. Whether it’s insulation or windows or different heating sources, whatever it might be, that’s what they look at.
A Clean Energy Upgrade will result in improved energy efficiency, the generation of renewable energy or reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
