If you are under 30 and in a skilled trade, you can apply for a provincial income tax refund.
Beginning with the 2022 tax year, the refund will return the provincial income tax paid of the first $50,000 of income.
To qualify you must be employed and registered as an apprentice or certified in an eligible trade, or be employed in the film or video industry.
About 7,600 workers will benefit from this, with an average refund of up to $2,700.
“We want young Nova Scotians to know that there is opportunity for them here. To find meaningful careers, to lay down roots, and to thrive. MOST is an effective tool to help companies retain and attract the skilled workers we need today and to help build our workforce for tomorrow.”
– Jill Balser, Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration
