NSTU president Liette Doucet released a statement last night saying when they agreed to that process, the union believed government was ready to listen and partner with teachers.
She says since then, the Premier has insisted discussions around working conditions will only happen through these meetings and not through bargaining.
Education Minister Karen Casey released a statement last night where she responded she’s disappointed the NSTU executive is walking away from these discussions.
Casey says the province is committed to hearing from teachers and if they want to speak directly to government, they are there to listen.
