The new chair of the Tri-County Regional School Board has some experience in the classroom.
Michael Drew taught for three decades in the area, and was voted in as chair after the swearing-in ceremony Tuesday night.
Drew ran for the first time and won District 7 in the Municipality of Yarmouth.
He edged out former Chair Donna Tidd for the position. She was later named vice-chair.
Drew says he’s always been interested in helping students.
“Helping the educational development of students within our board. Being a board member is something that I have wanted
to do for a long time, just to be there in making the decisions and moving the board forward.”
He says there will be a steep learning curve but he’s excited to bring his experience to the table.
“I’m excited to bring those thirty years as a teacher to the position. I have a lot of energy, I have a lot of enthusiasm to provide and
I really look forward to working with the other members of the board as we work together to prrovide an excellent education for the students in TCRSB.
