Jimmy MacAlpine is the new Warden of the Municipality of Digby.
The five member council voted him in over former Warden Linda Gregory at the swearing-in ceremony Monday night.
Gregory was later named Deputy Warden. MacAlpine has served on council for 16 years.
He says he wants to continue to work with regional partners.
“We’ve the WREN (Western Regional Enterprise Network), with the units from Digby and Yarmouth Counties. I can see us having opportunities to expand on some of the relationships we have with other opportunities down the road.”
MacAlpine says the municipality will continue to look at renewable energy opportunities and providing services for a small population.
He says doctors for Weymouth and Digby will also be a focus.
MacAlpine says he really appreciated the support he received from council.
“We have a small council, there’s only five of us and we work really, really well together. I have their support and their belief in me that I can provide the leadership skills necessary to be the warden of the municipality,”
