The Yarmouth Mariners saw their 12-game win streak come to an end over the weekend.
They lost to Edmundston 4-3 at home Saturday night.
Reid Vos scored twice and Franco Canevari had the other goal, with Joey Lovullo taking the loss in net with 32 saves.
Head Coach and GM Laurie Barron says he was proud of his team’s response after getting down 4-1 in the game.
“We battled back and came a bounce away from tying the game up. We would have loved to get two points, but we haven’t faced adversity for a while, so it might not hurt,” says Barron.
The Mariners responded with a 7-2 win over the Lumberjacks last night at home.
Thirteen different Mariners had at least a point in the game, Van Sawlor was named first star with a goal and two assists.
Barron says they took care of business.
“I liked that we only gave up two goals and played with structure. The scoring was pretty spread out, it was a good team effort.”
Patrick Hurley, Nolan Cleary, Reid Vos, Nathan Kelly, Ben Roode and Michael Marquez also scored, and Keegan Warren made 20 saves for the win.
Yarmouth can finish no lower than second in their division, and lead the league by eight points over the Blizzard.
The Mariners lost forward Jerome Nadeau to injury after a hit into the boards Saturday.
Barron says Nadeau will likely be out up to 10 days.
They next face the Pictou County Crushers on the road Thursday, and host the Valley Wildcats at home on Friday night.
